This is residential project
#2, a log element residence in the Adirondacks. Built on
an elevated wooded site with views to the mountains. Scott Patchett,
the owner, decided to construct the building using logs and lumber/timbers
from the site. He has become quite an authority on log element construction!
|
| Along with several covered porches, there is a porch
off the master bedroom, which overlooks and gives access to a brook
that runs along side the house. A stone fireplace and several gas
stoves for providing a cozy, warm atmosphere.. |
 |
| This house has been designed using open planning but with small
intimate spaces in mind. |
 |
Scott made the following comment:
"Jim, I can't believe how you were
able to design the large log carport and fit it to the rest of the
building. It feels so natural to the overall design."
|
He also made the comment:
"Every time I considered a change,
I always went back to the original design. You know, your drawings
are very easy to interpret and allowed me to do most of the log and
frame construction: getting just what I was looking for." |
 |
This is the second building designed for Scott and
Alice Patchett owners of Trout
House Village Resort on beautiful Lake George New York.
The first design was a log element cottage which they call Eagles
Nest (Click on Commercial)
also illustrated in the book "The Not So Log Cabin" by Robbin
Obomsawin.
I am presently redesigning the existing resort offices and lobby. |
